Annual Christmas
Fundraiser Party

Donegal Irish Pub

1637 37th Street SW (See map, below)

We are lucky enough to have the PH Unbalanced Band as our entertainment for the evening. This Christmas Party will be a little different from other fundraisers we have done, in that we will be selling tickets for $20 each ($25 for non-members), which will include:

  • A Corona upon arrival
  • A 7 ounce steak sandwich with fries
  • A drink to go with your meal; your choice of a glass of wine, high ball, or one of Donegal's Gas Lamp beers).

Featuring also a silent auction as a fundraiser for our charities. Not to mention a 50/50 draw.

The Donegal was chosen because they have a great program that allows our club to raise a lot of money for our charities, the Veteran's Food Bank and NeighborLink. We will get a percentage of the food and drink sales over and above our food package, to donate to our charities as well as they will donate an item for our silent auction.

Please Email CalPHC ( ) if you want to buy tickets, or call the Donegal Pub itself at (403) 686-6960.

Here's to hoping we have another successful evening raising money for two great charities!

Camper VanJuly 26 & 27:

Camping Weekend

Important - Change of Location:

Bragg Creek Provincial Park

(Former location was to be River Cove)

See map below; note special detour instructions due to flood washout.

Reason for location change: Alberta Parks have been working hard to get the camp grounds affected by the flood back up and running, but the road to River Cove was washed out and they are unable to rebuild it before our camping trip. They have offered us an alternative at the Bragg Creek Provincial Park. Ashlea went and had a look at the area; they are turning into a group site, and it looks great.

Special driving instructions:

Take Highway 22X west until it becomes Highway 66 (see map below); don't turn north into the townsite itself. Instead, continue west and turn right at the Provincial Park sign, go 2 km north on the road and turn left into the park, and go to the second parking lot. They will be blocking this area off for us; there are still toilets, large grassy area, group fire pit and individual fire pits, picnic tables, and firewood.
(Editors note: If you're coming into Bragg Creek from the north via Highway 22 you'll need to continue south toward Highway 66, as the direct road between the park and the townsite was washed out by the flood.)

Unfortunately there is no covered cook house.

If there is any interest we can still do the Saturday afternoon BBQ for those that don't want to camp but would like to come out for the day.

Please contact if you're want to sign up for the weekend or just a day.

Sunday July 7, 2013: 9 AM onwards

Volunteer Event: Post-Flood CleanupWater

There's still a lot of volunteer help needed in the towns surrounding Calgary (especially High River). Let's get a group together and help!

If you're interested, please E-mail so we can coordinate a list of volunteers. Please recruit others if you can; not just CalPHC members. Please provide names and E-mail addressess of those helping, and what you're willing to help out with...

We need people who are willing to do physical labour and willing to get real dirty (i.e. in the real "dirt" context!). If you can't or won't do physical labour, we could use some help moving small items, wiping down areas, etc. Still others can do even lighter labour; e.g. make sandwiches, distribute sandwiches and water, etc. Basically, there's a role for everyone!

The meeting location is TBA (it will depend on where we're needed, according to the coordinator, Steve M.). Remember, please sign up via to be notified.

Some key items to bring:

  • Muffins & bottled water to hand out (to other volunteer groups)
  • "Wet wipes" to hand out
  • Old clothes, because it'll be filthy out there...
  • Rubber boots, if you have them (They're obviously hard to buy nowadays). Hiking boots if you don't have rubber boots.
  • Change of clothes to come home in
  • 3 or 4 towels (including 1 to cover a car seat)
  • Rubber gloves, work gloves
  • Hat, face mask, coveralls, if you can (disposable ones will do)
  • Hand truck (dolly), crowbar, sledgehammer
  • Shovels, snow shovels, rake
  • Mosquito repellant, sunscreen, hand sanitizer

Also needed if possible: A truck or trailer that can haul trash. (Please mention that in the Email if you can provide it.) Also, a power washer and/or generator would be great if possible.

Updates will be sent via Email before Sunday about this volunteer effort.

Your help is badly needed -- and much appreciated!!

Special thanks to Steve & Cathy, and Sean M. for coordinating this volunteer event.

Donation to the Calgary Veterans Food Bank

We will also have proceeds of the silent auction go to support PADS Calgary and Children's Soup Program - Meals on Wheels.

We're also really pleased to announce that Brian Neale (www.northernharbour.com) and DJ Rocky will be our live entertainment that night. Brian & Rocky are making the trip from Toronto to play our event. We are very fortunate that they enjoy entertaining the Calgary Parrot Head Club.
Brian will also be playing some songs from his new album that he is busy recording in Nashville. So mark this date down on your calendar – it is Remembrance Day on the Friday – so it is very appropriate indeed that we are supporting the Veterans.

We will gather the donated food at [Pub Name Removed] and then arrange for pick up.

Ashlea is still looking for volunteers for that night – so if you can help us out we would really appreciate it. We need people to work the door, and also to help decorate at 5:00 pm. It would really make her job easier to hear back from you if you can help. Thank you Ashlea for stepping up to the plate and taking this on.

There will be some great food and drink specials for the evening. Hawaiian Pizza and Burgers for $10 each and Coronas for $5. This is always a great event and will be our 16th annual.

We are still looking for silent auction items and door prizes. If you can donate to our great cause – please E-mail Vida:
